This isn’t really as much of a recipe as it is a reminder that fruit and yogurt parfaits are perfection. It’s full of fat if you use full fat yogurt (which I recommend as it’s especially important for kids and teens), calcium, probiotics, fiber from the granola and fruit, vitamin C from the fruit, and it’s delicious.

There is something wonderful about having different textures and contrasting something quite bland such as yogurt with tart/sweet fruit and crunchy granola. I always forget how much I love them. Most people get more enjoyment out of foods that have a variety of textures in them (even if we don’t realize it).

Fruit and yogurt parfaits are a great stepping stone to mixing foods. If this is something your kiddo struggles with, try serving the yogurt in a normal sized bowl and then the fruit and granola in smaller bowls to be added to the yogurt when they feel ready. They may try all or some of the components separately before deciding to mix. This gives autonomy while still providing exposure.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
Ingredients
Yogurt (look for plain whole milk yogurt)
Granola (store bought is great, and here is my recipe for a nut-free granola)
Fresh fruit or jam
Other fun layering extras like chia seeds (we call them sprinkles), actual sprinkles, hemp seeds, ground flax seed, marshmallows, cereal (grape nuts are especially good as they stay crunchy, chocolate chips, scoop of peanut butter, nutella
Instructions
- Start with a scoop or two of yogurt into a cup. This is especially fun with a clear cup so they can see the layers.
- Then sprinkle on some granola.
- Then add some jam or sliced fresh fruit and other toppings you want.
- Then repeat with more yogurt and more toppings layers.
- Serve immediately or let sit in the fridge for 20 minutes to soften granola for those sensitive to the crunchiness of granola.
