Easy Apple Oatmeal

Cooking seasonally is one of my favorite themes to incorporate. It just makes me feel like a productive human. I love that produce is fresher, cheaper, and more delicious. Our two apple trees are bursting with apples. We’ve been having them raw at every meal, but I need to amp up my usage! This easy apple oatmeal is a perfect, warm breakfast for a cool fall morning.

You can use all instant or all old fashioned oats in this recipe, but it will alter the cooking time. Simply cook until oats are soft and desirable to eat. I love that this oatmeal has a sweetness from the grated apple, but doesn’t contain any added sugar.

Ingredients

1/2 cup instant oatmeal

1/2 cup old fashioned oats

1 1/2 cup water

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 small apple, grated

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to small pot. Cook on medium low for 5-7 minutes, or until soft and desirable to eat.
  2. Serve warm with milk, chopped nuts (if 4 y/o or older), raisins, or chopped fresh apple.
