Never made your own gummy bears? Fear not! It is so simple. Not willing to shell out for a gummy bear mold? Fear not! You can simply pour this into a baking dish and cut into inch squares. If you do want to shell out, here’s the mold we used. We’ve used it several times and it works well. It comes with a little dropper that Eloise loves using. Great for pincer grasp practice!

The flavor in real fruit gummy bears is surprisingly better than your standard bagged variety. Don’t get me wrong, I love most gummy candies, but the flavor in these are so much better. They also don’t have that weird oily slick you get with some brands. Finally, I discovered that many brands contain gluten, which my daughters are intolerant to (which means I can’t eat it while nursing). To solve my craving for a nice large gold bag of gummy bears, we started to make our own. They are so easy, I can’t imagine going back to the slimy imposters.

A big and obvious benefit to making my own is that I control exactly what goes in. We used Vital Proteins Grass-Fed Pasture-Raised Beef Gelatin. There are many benefits of high quality gelatin, including skin, joint, brain, and bone health. As someone with chronic back pain and a hereditary spinal disease in my family, I get gelatin in my diet whenever I can. The most fun way being gummy bears.

We used a little honey in our recipe, but you could use just fruit if your peaches are ripe and sweet.
